The Fall '24 Chic For Cancer Choc'laCure Fashion Show, hosted on September 20th, features local boutiques with their upcoming fall/winter 2024 collections, local artisan vendors, raffle draws, bar, and more. Doors open at 5 PM, and the show begins at 7 PM.
TBI means the whole body is given radiation treatment. This type of radiation treatment is often used in conjunction with chemotherapy. The most common cancers treated with total body irradiation include Leukemia, Lymphoma, and Myeloma. TBI is also used to prepare patients for bone marrow transplants or stem cell transplants. TBI is typically used before a stem cell transplant as it can destroy cancer cells in areas where chemotherapy can't reach.
The team is currently using a Couch that was created in-house to meet the needs of the Centre. A custom-built couch would allow for improved use for treatment and also be adaptable for volumetric modulated arc therapy (VMAT), which treats prostate, lung, and head & neck cancers, among others.
